Calzada's an Aggie

Zach Calzada saw his recruitment go from 0-60 in a blink of an eye earlier this spring.

As schools starting to get out and see him during the evaluation period, offers starting to come in at a rapid pace for the signal caller out of Sugar Hill (Ga.) Lanier. He piled up over 40.

Texas A&M offered Calzada May 17, then had him on campus for a couple of days last weekend. He threw for Jimbo Fisher and the Aggie coaches early, then fell in love with College Station.

"I fell in love with Texas A&M on my visit," said Calzada. "I came home to let my emotions settle down, and after two days I knew it was the place for me.

"It came down to Texas A&M, North Carolina, NC State and Georgia."

Coach Fisher's history as a winner and the way he's developed quarterbacks played into his commitment, but there was more to it than that.

"Coach Fisher played a pretty significant roll in my decision. His ability to develop a quarterback has proved to be top in the nation through his career, but I fell in love with the university as a whole.

"The people there are amazing: the players, commits, coaches, and academic staff really made me feel at home.

"I think it’s a great situation going into a highly regarded program that is going uphill from here."

A decision may appear to have happened rather quickly on the outside, but after all the visits, the No. 19-ranked pro-style quarterback in the country is all Aggie.

"I am 110-percent committed. I am not taking anymore visits," said Calzada.
