Cali sack master lands first two offers

The best pass rusher we saw in the CA class of 2007 last season was Los Angeles (Calif.) Verbum Dei's Akeem Ayers. The talented rush end recently received his first two scholarship offers and we're confident they won't be anywhere near his last.
Ayers, 6-2, 215 pounds earned all-CIF and 1st team all-state underderclass honors this past season after totaling 116 tackles and 23 quarterback sacks. The rush end is one of those players who just jumps off the screen when you watch him on film. He's incredibly quick off the ball, uses his hands well and is relentless in pursuit of the quarterback.

Ayers attended San Diego State's junior day this past weekend and said he had a very good time on the visit.
"I really wasn't even looking at San Diego State before this past weekend," Ayers said. "I had a lot of fun though and learned a lot about the program. The campus is incredible and it was fun meeting all the coaches.
"They gave us a tour of the campus, we checked out a basketball game and met some of the academic advisers. One of the coaches pulled me aside during the tour and told me he was going to be calling my coach this week and with an offer and sure enough, they called on Monday and offered me.
"I also got an offer from Arizona, they called my coach this week too. Right now, the schools I'm hearing the most from are UCLA, Cal, Oregon, Florida State and a few others.
"UCLA is my top school right now. I grew up a big fan of UCLA and I still like them a lot. I don't know if I would commit right when they offered because I want to take a few trips first but it would be tough to turn them down.
"The other schools I'm looking hard at right now are Cal, Florida State and Arizona. San Diego State jumped up in my eyes and I would be interested in hearing more from USC too. Even though I grew up a UCLA fan, I like USC a lot now too because of how good they're doing but I haven't heard from them yet."
