Cibolo, Texas, safety Caden Sterns has seen his stock rise this spring after picking up a number of offers. Among them is SEC powerhouse LSU, who seemingly jumped straight to the top of his offer list when they came through with one in late May.

“I was in school and they offered me towards the end of the day, eighth period,” he said. “It was my last class, but it was pretty hard to keep my cool.”

Sterns said that LSU was the school that he has been waiting on, but has also picked up offers from UCLA, TCU and SMU since then. He isn’t writing off the others, but they seem to be working from behind trying to win his commitment.

“I am trying to take a visit up to campus this summer and build the relationship there,” he said. “That was my dream offer so getting that from them was a big deal.”

In his words | Oklahoma State

“I know the campus because my brother goes there,” he said. “They have been building the relationship with me a lot and they really want me up there. They’ll definitely be a school that’s contending for my decision.”

“To me, I’m looking to play both ways because I think I have the abilities to do that,” he said. “The most important thing to me is graduating though.”

UCLA

“That was a big one, I’ll be out there next week,” he said. “Pac-12 they like to spread the ball around and my cover skills are good, so it would be a good opportunity for me out there.”

Texas Tech

“Our old head coach went there before he moved on to Bowling Green,” he said. “I feel the momentum there a little bit and our quarterback (Xavier Martin) is going there and we have a really tight bond.”

Rivals Reaction: Sterns didn’t seem to have a good feel for the west coast culture, but will get a chance to get a good look at it here sooner than later. In the meantime, LSU is a clear favorite with Oklahoma State staying in the hunt with the family connection. Sterns is an athletic and well-built defensive back that more programs are sure to make a priority before the end of the upcoming season, and should be a capable fit in any defense.
