BYU commit visits Arizona State

Jaren Hall showed off a strong arm at the inaugural Rivals Quarterback Challenge in Los Angeles and, just a day later, took home the position most valuable player award at the Rivals Camp Series Presented by Under Armour in Las Vegas.
The 6-foot, 185-pound dual-threat prospect from Mapleton (Utah) Maple Mountain, of course, was off the market by then, having committed to in-state BYU last October.

But the three-star quarterback has continued to generate attention from college coaches. This past weekend he hit the road to compete at the Arizona State camp before returning home to throw for Utah, which has already offered.
"The Arizona State coaches have shown a lot of interest," Hall said. "They told me that I'm a perfect fit for what they do."
Though the Sun Devils' offensive style might be appealing for a quarterback that likes to speed up the pace, Hall has not wavered from his pledge to the Cougars in the past and any program trying to jump in now would appear to face a steep climb. Even after a trip to the desert to throw in front of Arizona State, Hall has no intention to go back on his word.
"I'm still committed to BYU and certain about it as ever," Hall said. "I've been doing my best to stay in the recruiting loop with all the sports I do, but there are a few guys we're targeting right now."
The previous recruiting cycle was a rough one for both BYU and Utah in regards to keeping some of the top talent from leaving the state. Five-star inside linebacker Porter Gustin and four-star outside linebacker Osa Masina signed with USC, four-star offensive tackle Andre James signed with UCLA, and three-star linebacker Christian Folau chose Oregon State. Only two of the state's top 10 prospects signed with either BYU or Utah.
Hall, whose father Kalin was a running back for the Cougars, said he is hoping to change that this year.
"I'm definitely after Simi Fehoko," he said.
Hall passed for 2,375 yards and 23 touchdowns as a junior last fall.
