Big 12 getting after Wooten
Houston (Texas) Lamar 2016 three-star offensive tackle Dixie Wooten is a big presence in the trenches at 6-foot-5 and 325-pounds and he has already attracted the attention of college coaches.
"I got invited to a couple of games at LSU and TCU. I got invited to a game at TCU today. And Texas Tech, their o-line coach has been DM-ing me on Twitter a lot," Wooten said. "Those are really the three schools, and Texas and Baylor have been showing a lot of love."

He has not had the opportunity to establish many strong relationships with college coaches at this point, but Texas Tech's Lee Hays is one coach Wooten has built a bond.
"One day he just randomly contacted me and he said he saw my film against Brenham and he really liked me," Wooten said. "He said I'm quick off the ball and he liked my size and I have good hands and footwork and just good technique period."
Wooten has not taken any unofficial visits this fall, but he has a few plans to visit a few colleges around October and November.
"I'm going to try and go to Baylor," Wooten said. "I'm going to try to go to TCU I think October 11, and Mississippi State for a November game. And Texas Tech and the local schools."
While he has not taken any visits this fall, he was able to check out a few college campuses during the summer months.
"I went to Baylor's camp. That was one of my best camps. I dominated there," Wooten said. "I also went to Texas A&M. It was like a stay overnight camp and I did really good there. Then LSU I did real good at LSU. It was an O-line/D-line camp with 7-on-7 on the side."
Wooten put in a lot of work during the offseason, and he keeps his goal short and simple.
"Just how hard I worked to get where I'm at," Wooten said. "I feel like I'm underrated so I've just been working hard. So people can see me play and throughout the game wonder who's that doing that. And just trying to be a team player and not just myself because scouts cover teams who usually do good and if my team doesn't do good when I'm a senior so I want to help my team get better."
Through two games he feels he has done well.
"The last two games I went crazy against Elkins," Wooten said. "Brenham, they went to state last year and I had about 15 pancakes against them."
Wooten and his Lamar teammates currently have a record of 1-1 on the season and are preparing for a big Friday match-up at Port Arthur Memorial.
