B1G schools making final pitches to Dotson

ATLANTA – The commitment date for four-star Cincinnati (Ohio) Moeller tight end Matt Dotson is nearing, but a couple more trips are scheduled before that final decision is made. Dotson has two trips planned over the next nine days, including one to a Penn State program that he just visited for the first time last month.

THE LATEST: Penn State is set to host Dotson the weekend of June 17. Coming off his May 20 visit to State College Dotson had the Nittany Lions topping his interest list. The difference between that visit and his upcoming visit is the Ohio native will bring his mother along for the next trip. Before he heads to Penn State, though, Dotson has a June 15 visit planned to Michigan State. He said Penn State is still the team to beat, but a final decision has not been made yet.

IN HIS WORDS: “(Penn State) rolled out the red carpet for me, and I know when my mom gets there it will be even greater. Penn State, I really like it, and I really like Michigan State too.”

RIVALS’ REACTION: Dotson’s current plan is to announce his decision in early July and he feels that choice will become evident following the trips to Michigan State and Penn State. A late June or early July trip to Michigan is not out of the question, but this battle appears to be coming down to the Spartans and Nittany Lions with James Franklin and staff holding a slight edge heading into the last few weeks.
