The Latest: When 3-star athlete Derek Turner visited Auburn over the summer, he walked away impressed with the Tigers campus and program as a whole. So when he officially picked up an offer late last month, it made a major impact on his recruitment. Rivals.com recently caught up with Turner at the New Orleans stop of the Rivals 3-Stripe Camp presented by adidas to get the latest.

In His Words: “It felt pretty good to get that big offer. They told me they like my physicality on the field and the way I approach the game. They like my overall ability and my versatility. They are recruiting me as a defensive back but I play both ways and they said they like that about my game and think it would help me at the next level. I’ve been watching Auburn play for years. I actually watched the LSU-Auburn game this past year and it was very intense. I would love to play in the SEC so it’s great to have that option now. I’m going to go back sometime in July.”

Rivals Reaction: Turner’s recruitment is just starting to take off and the Tigers joining the fold is a good sign for him. Having Turner already visit and camp is a also a check in Auburn’s favor. The next step will be getting him back to town again soon.
