Army Daily Rewind: Murray main man for East

SAN ANTONIO – Rivals.com looks at the top five news items from the U.S. Army All-American Bowl in the Daily Rewind. Each day Rivals.com will break down the biggest news, player injuries and updated recruiting news in a compact and easy-to-digest format. The game will be played at 1 p.m. EST on Saturday and broadcast live on NBC. More than 500 of the nation's top junior prospects were on hand at the Alamodome on Friday for the U.S. Army National Combine and final preparations for Saturday's kickoff were made with light practices for the East and the West rosters.

1) STARS OF TOMORROW STAR TODAY

The Alamodome was the site for Friday's U.S. Army National Combine and just like in years past several players showed they belong among the cream of the crop. Running back Lache Seastrunk of Temple, Texas, has been a well-known name in recruiting circles already, and he dominated the camp with a showing that impressed Rivals.com analysts. "Lache Seastrunk has incredible body structure that allows him to change direction on a dime," Barry Every of Rivals.com said. "He's definitely proven at this event that he's one of the best in the class of 2010." Another player who stood out was Owamagbe Odighizuwa of Portland (Ore.) David Douglas. The 6-foot-3, 220-pound defensive end was the most dominating defensive player in the combine, and it's easy to see why Oregon and Oregon State have offered him early on. Other notables included receivers Kyle Prater of Hillside (Ill.) Proviso West and Markeith Ambles of McDonough (Ga.) Henry County.

2) EAST SHOULD BE HEALTHY

After spending most of the week fighting injuries and late arrivals, it should be all hands on deck for the East team on Saturday. Coach Terry Smith said all his players should be available for the game, including five-star defensive back Darius Winston. Winston had been banged up with a left ankle injury, but he practiced Thursday and Friday. He said he's ready to rock and roll Saturday. Linebacker Jarvis Jones has a broken hand, but he will play with a new yellow cast. Jeremy Gallon and Chris Burnette were also down some this week but both are also expected to be 100 percent.

3) MURRAY TO START, REST ANNOUNCED IN MORNING

Aaron Murray has been announced as the starting quarterback for the East. Rivals.com will be your home for the exclusive announcement of the rest of the starting lineups tomorrow. At 10 a.m. Rivals.com will post the starters for the East and the West teams, but the East did announce its captains on Friday after the West announced its earlier in the week. The East's offensive captains are Murray and running back Bryce Brown. On defense the captains will be defensive end Malliciah Goodman and linebacker Shayne Skov. Also, don't be surprised if Tyrik Rollison gets the starting nod as the West quarterback. Rollison started slow early in the week, but he really came on strong with a strong performance at the scrimmage.

4) IN-GAME ANNOUNCMENTS

Nine players are expected to announce their decisions during the game Saturday. The biggest headliners are five-star defensive tackle William Campbell and five-star running back Christine Michael. Michael, the No. 28 player in the nation, already let the cat out of the bag earlier this week when he told Rivals.com he was heading to Texas A&M. However, there is still plenty of drama for Campbell. He said earlier that he had eliminated Michigan and was going to pick among LSU, Miami and Florida. However, you can't overlook the in-state Wolverines and word is the decision is still up in the air with the announcement now just hours away. Campbell's teammate, junior defensive back Dior Mathis, said he thinks Campbell is heading to Michigan.

5) COMBINE RECRUITING NUGGETS

Seastrunk wore Southern Cal socks to the Army Combine, but he said there was no recruiting message involved. It was just a pair he grabbed. … Wide receiver Ricardo Miller said Florida and other schools are trying to steal him away, but he's still firmly committed to Michigan. … Alabama was mentioned prominently by Ambles, Phillip Sims, DeMarco Cobbs and Barry Brunetti. … Cobbs did not report any new offers but said Georgia, LSU, Florida and Alabama are showing more interest.
