Arizona targeting 2019 Louisiana QB Travis Mumphrey

The Latest: Class of 2019 quarterback Travis Mumphrey is just getting started on his recruiting journey, with new offers starting to roll in on a regular basis. One of the programs that recently joined his list was Arizona, marking the first Power Five school to extend an offer. Rivals.com caught up with Mumphrey at the recent New Orleans stop of the Rivals 3-Stripe Camp Series presented by adidas to get the latest on his relationship with the Wildcats.

In His Words: “It was a really big offer for me. It was a blessing to know that schools are taking notice, especially one like Arizona. I haven’t been out there yet but I want go during the summer time. Coach MaGee offered me and he said he likes my playing style. It’s an offense similar to the one we run in high school so they think I would be a good fit there. To play in an up-tempo offense like that is something I’m looking for in a college. They are always recruiting down here. Our safety from my school Jarrius Wallace goes there now. I talked to him after they offered me and he really likes it out there and said I would too. When I go up there he’s going to show me around and be my host..”

On upcoming visits/potential offers: “I think UAB, Rice or Mississippi State will be the next school to offer me. Coming up I’m going to visit LSU March 18, then I’m going to visit Rice and I’m going to visit Stanford, too.”

Rivals Reaction: The Wildcats have made an effort to recruit Louisiana in recent years and have done a nice job catching the attention of several prospects. Mumphrey’s star is just beginning to rise so getting in on him early was a smart move as well. The next move will be getting him on campus, something that should happen over the summer.
