Recently four-star New Jersey offensive tackle Josue Matias said he wanted to hear the Hurricanes' pitch.
Now that he has given Miami some thought he has decided to look in other directions.
"No, I'm not looking at them any more," Matias said on Tuesday. "I just don't think that's going to work. I've just had my mind on other schools."
Matias said he had worked hard to narrow his list to where it currently stands and it would introduce too much confusion into the process to consider Miami as well.
He has already taken official visits to North Carolina, Wisconsin and Florida State, and he has official visits planned to South Carolina (January 14) and Rutgers (January 21), the last two schools he is considering.
Matias said he has recently been in contact with coaches from North Carolina, Florida State and Rutgers.
He said other coaches are planning on checking in on him soon.
