All-state quarterback still undecided

There were no doubts about his play on the field this season, but the recruiting season for three-star quarterback Randall Mackey is not quite as much of a sure thing. Mackey led Bastrop (La.) High School to an undefeated season and a 4A state championship that many predicted well in advance. It is much harder to predict Mackey's college plans.
"Southern Miss, ULM and Grambling are all talking to me," Mackey said.

However, Mackey was sure to stipulate that that was not his top three. In fact, Mackey isn't ready to name any kind of final list at all for the time being. He conceded that he may not know where he is going until signing day.
To date, Mackey hasn't taken any official visits and has yet to decide if he will be tripping anywhere.
"I've got some planned but I don't know if I'm going to go on them or not," he said. "I may go to Southern Miss but I don't know."
Mackey is being recruited by USM by Frank Wilson but he knows little about the Hattiesburg, Miss. program.
"I don't know much about them, that's why I'm going to see," he said.
Mackey said that he expects to qualify but doesn't quite know what he's looking for out of a program.
"Whenever I feel like it's time, that's where I'll go," he said.
