Recruiting wrap: Phillips is committed to UCLA.

Performance: Phillips was far and away the most impressive defensive lineman at the Los Angeles Rivals Camp, blowing by offensive lineman after offensive lineman while showing a terrific combination of size and speed off the edge. He’s still more of a hybrid between defensive end and linebacker, but should fit nicely in the Bruins' scheme.

Recruiting wrap: Clemson and Georgia appear to be the two schools at the top of Herring’s list.

Performance: Herring made this list after an excellent showing at the Rivals Camp in Atlanta. That stop of the series is usually stocked with defensive end talent, so standing out can be tough, but Herring lived up to the hype by outshining the rest of the field. His speed off the edge is what makes him so dangerous and why he’s one of the nation’s best at his position.

Recruiting wrap: Miami and Duke are Carney’s top two schools.

Performance: Carney earned his way onto the list while outperforming the competition at the Miami stop of the series. He was virtually unbeatable at the event and his ability overpower offensive lineman at the point of attack was very impressive.

Recruiting wrap: Lawler is committed to North Carolina.

Performance: Lawler was unstoppable all day at the Rivals Camp Series Charlotte stop, and his ability to fly off the ball and blow by offensive linemen is what impressed the most. Even if they did manage to engage with him, Lawler was able to toss opposing linemen aside, showing a tremendously versatile skill set.

Recruiting wrap: Beal is still considering a number of schools, including Alabama, Georgia, Notre Dame and Texas.

Performance: Beal is another hybrid defensive end, combining size and length with explosiveness off the edge to create problems for heavier offensive linemen. As he continues to add muscle to his frame, he only becomes more of a problem for opposing offensive linemen. Like Herring, he earned his honors by excelling at the Atlanta camp.
