HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Day one of practices at the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Game pitted several of the game's top prospects against each other and produced some intrigue. Below are notes on the prospects that helped and hurt their respective stock the most.

Recruiting Wrap: Williams is committed to Alabama and expected to sign with the Tide on National Signing Day.
Performance: Williams has an impressive build and looks to carry very little bad weight. His wide frame will allow him to add even more muscle than he already carried. On Tuesday, he was quick off the ball and showed a devastating first step for a prospect of his size. Williams, who looks and moves much better than his current three-star ranking, proved plenty on the first day of practice.

Recruiting Wrap: Brown is thought to be high on Mississippi State. Alabama, Auburn and others remain in the mix.
Performance: Brown made one of the day's most impressive catches and beat Rivals100 defensive back Nigel Knott on a couple of occasions. Brown is explosive and boasts strong hands. He isn't the tallest wide receiver in the country but he might be as well-rounded as anyone.

Recruiting Wrap: Jones seems to be down to Mississippi State and Ole Miss. The best prediction might be on the Bulldogs at this point, but Ole Miss is certainly within striking distance.
Performance: Jones was a force on the inside during the day's afternoon practice. He disrupted play after play. He isn't the tallest prospect and could stand to drop a little bad weight, but it's impossible to argue with the results. Jones was nearly unblockable during the first day of practice.

Birmingham (Ala.) Huffman
Recruiting Wrap: Beaman has scholarship offers from Cincinnati, Indiana, Mississippi and others. He names no favorites at this juncture in his recruitment, as it seems there might be a few other opportunities on deck. Indiana seems most involved for the time being, but that could change swiftly.
Performance: Beaman won most of his one-on-one reps on Tuesday. He's a little short, but that didn't much hold him back. Beaman was especially effective when it came to rushing the passer, but he's not bad against the run either. He has the frame to add even more muscle and become a weapon against the run as well.
Stock Down

Recruiting Wrap: Whitfield is committed to South Carolina. And while he says he may take a look at Arkansas and Missouri, he has yet to set visit dates.
Performance: Whitfield does some things well and has some solid power and a wide build. His footwork isn't exactly polished and he lacks the quickness of an elite-level prospect. Whitfield looks caught between positions in a way, but has some impressive tools that will allow him to contribute to a college program. He just doesn't boast the full skillset of most Rivals250 prospects.
WR
Saraland, Ala.
Recruiting Wrap: Jones is committed to USC but is likely to break that pledge before National Signing Day. Michigan and Oklahoma are heavily in the mix.
Performance: Jones did some things well on Tuesday and caught a couple deep balls. Problem was he also dropped a number of passes that hit him in the hands or on the pads. It's not as though Jones ruined his stock on Tuesday, but the inconsistency was striking.
