Alabama had not been showing much interest in Cordale Flott leading up to last week. The 6-foot-1, 160 pound cornerback out of Saraland (Ala.) heard from defensive backs coach Karl Scott Thursday and Flott was in Tuscaloosa Saturday for Junior Day.
Things moved quickly. Very quickly.
Before he headed back home, the Crimson Tide offered Flott.
"I was very surprised by the offer from Alabama," said Flott. "I was just in contact with them two days before Junior Day, then Saturday, they showed me a lot of love and it went from there.
"The offer came more towards the end of the visit. We finished things off watching film with the defensive backs and then they called me into coach Nick Saban's office. He talked to me about how things were going, he talked to me about my family and then he offered me."
It was his first visit to Alabama and the in-state school quickly moved to the top of his list.
"Getting that offer felt great. I am just thankful that they took the time out to watch my film, to evaluate me and to offer me. It was a big surprise and I am just thankful to have it.
"This offer pushed Alabama to the top of my list. I like the program, I am a fan of Alabama and it is a great school."
A school right behind Alabama is Ole Miss. The Rebels offered Flott a couple of weeks ago and he will see Oxford for the first time this weekend.
"I just want to see how the atmosphere is at Ole Miss and meet the coaches personally this weekend," said Flott. "I don't have anything in particular I want to see, but just get the experience. They have been showing a lot of interest, so I want to check them out."
Another school in Mississippi is on his radar. His brother plays there, so he is very familiar with this program.
"My brother (WyDale Flott) plays at Southern Miss, so I have been there a number of times and I know a lot about them. With my brother there, it really does give them a chance. I have a good relationship with the coaches there, I know a lot about the school, so Southern Miss is in my top three."
February was a big month for Flott. He added over half a dozen offers and he has become a hot name in the Yellowhammer State. A decision still looks to be a ways off though.
"I am not sure when I will commit yet," said Flott. "I have not really thought about it. I don't think I am close though.
"I am looking for everything in a school. I will look at relationships, players on the team, location and all of that will help me pick a school."
