There was a lot of anticipation surrounding the signing day decision of Montgomery (Ala.) Carver defensive tackle James Smith, but as many expected, the Rivals250 prospect will stay in-state to play for the Alabama Crimson Tide.
Smith, the No. 1 defensive tackle in the 2023 class, was being courted heavily throughout his recruiting process by Alabama, Georgia, Florida, and Auburn. He took official visits to all of those programs along throughout the summer and fall.
Alabama received visits from Smith numerous times throughout his recruiting process and also received his last official visit the weekend of December 9th.
The Crimson Tide also make a big splash by not only adding Smith, but also adding his high school teammate, JaQuavious Russaw, as part of a super-talented packaged deal.
