LOCKS OF THE WEEK
ROB CASSIDY: UCF (–10.5) over USF. "Dance with who brung ya. The Blonde Bear Bryant has this under control."
MIKE FARRELL: Iowa (–3) over Nebraska. "Mike Riley is gone after this game. Iowa hasn’t played well since it beat Ohio State, but should put enough together for a 10-point win."
ADAM FRIEDMAN: Miami (–13.5) over Pittsburgh. "The Canes had their scare last weekend against Virginia and I don't expect them to allow a lesser opponent to give them another scare for the second week in a row. Canes should take care of business on the road and make quick work of a less-than-stellar Pitt team."
ADAM GORNEY: Iowa (–3) over Nebraska. "Nebraska used to be a scary place to play. Well, the Huskers are 4-7, on the verge of firing coach Mike Riley and have lost three-straight games and three-straight home games. Iowa is nothing special and the Hawkeyes have been struggling, too, but they can throw the ball well and run it efficiently enough against a Nebraska defensive front that's just not good."
JOSH HELMHOLDT: Oregon State (+25) against Oregon. "I love betting into big spreads in rivalry games, and this one comes after Oregon State won last season’s Civil War by 10. That game was in Corvallis, this one is in Eugene, but even the Autzen atmosphere cannot account for this spread."
DEREK SAMSON: Boise State (–7) over Fresno State. "See Rob Cassidy's comment. Or at least the first part of it. The Broncos keep rolling along."
BILL TROCCHI: Washington State (+9.5) over Washington. "Washington State is coming off a bye after beating Stanford and Utah. Washington is coming off a loss to Stanford and a narrow win over Utah. The Cougs are playing for the Pac-12 North title with a good defense and shaky weather is expected. This is way too many points for the Huskies to cover."
WOODY WOMMACK: UCF (–10.5) over USF. "Time to join the other guys and roll with my alma mater this week. This should be a fun game to watch but the Knights should be too much for the Bulls to slow down."
