Class of 2016 Spring Hill, Tenn. quarterback Tylin Oden has been committed to Louisville for six months and will take his official visit to the school this weekend, but new interest from Ohio State has led Oden to take a closer look at the Buckeyes and that will include an official visit to Columbus next month. Buckeyes quarterback coach Tim Beck was in Tennessee on Wednesday to watch Oden throw, attend his basketball practice and then do an in-home visit. With Buckeyes quarterback commit Tristen Wallace visiting Oregon this weekend, it appears the school may be ready to make a move on the 6-foot-6 Oden.
IN HIS WORDS: "We got to spend a lot of time together," Oden said of Beck and his visit. "He had a chance to see what type of quarterback I am and then also got to see me on the basketball court and then sit down and have dinner with my family. We had a chance to talk about how good I would fit in their offense and he said they want to have me up for an official visit so I think I'm going to do that the first weekend after the dead period."
Oden said Beck didn't mince words when it came to down to the Buckeyes plans and he appreciated his candor.
"I like him. I think he's an honest man. He told me that with Cardale Jones entering the draft and Torrance Gibson playing receiver and another guy potentially leaving they will only have three quarterbacks so they want to take two in this class."
RIVALS' REACTION: Four-star quarterback Dwayne Haskins is visiting Columbus this weekend, but it appears as Oden is now a serious option for the Buckeyes. Oden's senior season saw him put up 2,500 yards of total offense and 27 touchdowns and his film has turned the heads of several programs, with LSU and Missouri among other programs inquiring about Oden's availability. Louisville wants to hold onto Oden and this weekend will likely serve as their best chance to prove they are the right fit for him. Either way, expect Oden to take the trip to Columbus in January and evaluate his options afterward that trip.
