Georgia and Alabama came up short for McMichael, and Clemson is clearly still riding high after their national championship. Georgia is one of the most talent-rich states in the country, and Dabo Swinney has now four commitments from the Peach State. McMichael, listed as an athlete in the Rivals100, has a wide range of talents and skills on the field, and Clemson has a plan for how to get the most out of him.

Virginia Tech has been dying for some big, athletic receivers to add a new dimension to its offense, and Turner, along with Rivals250 receiver Darryle Simmons, is just what the doctor ordered. Turner had announced finalists of Florida State, Louisville, Miami, North Carolina, N.C. State, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, South Carolina and Tennessee, but chose the Hokies. Justin Fuente and his staff have made a clear emphasis on bringing in the best prospects from North Carolina, and they are succeeding so far. Just less than one-third of Virginia Tech’s current commitments are from North Carolina.

With Mitch Trubisky gone, the Tar Heels are looking for their next quarterback. Shough won’t be in Chapel Hill this fall, but he could be Larry Fedora’s future signal caller. There is no position more important on the field than quarterback, and North Carolina placed a huge priority on the position in this recruiting cycle, going so far as to take commitments from Shough and fellow quarterback Jace Ruder. Both bring a lot to the table, and Tar Heel fans should be excited about these important commitments.

Just because a commitment isn’t a surprise doesn’t mean it’s not massive. Such is the case with Blades and Miami. The high four-star defensive back with five-star potential chose the Hurricanes on Father's Day. Because of his family legacy at Miami, it shocked exactly nobody. The commitment helped the ‘Canes carry the momentum of their top-ranked class into June. Mark Richt and company are on an absolute roll when it comes to recruiting, and Blades is the type of prospect that can influence other players considering the programs.

Chimedza isn’t as highly ranked as some other prospects, but Georgia Tech isn’t exactly loading up on 2018 recruits, so grabbing a prospect with options and Atlanta ties was huge. Every last one of the Yellow Jackets’ 2018 commits entered the fold in June, which is certainly noteworthy. The fact that Chimedza attends powerhouse IMG Academy in Florida is notable because there is possibly no better school in America to build a pipeline to than IMG. Landing Chimedza has a lot of perks that bubble just under the surface.
