A concentration of QBs
Washington is known for a lot of things – Mount Saint Helens, Starbucks, the birthplace of grunge rock and two talented college football programs.
But year in and year out one thing the state hasn't been known for is producing good quarterbacks. Maybe that thought is starting to change as last year the state had a top 100 quarterback and three of the top four players in the Rivals.com Washington Top 25 are signal callers.

Jake Locker was the star quarterback in the class of 2006, but the 2007 group is loaded with three players that have the chance to be truly special.
Behind four-star tight end Chris Izbicki at No. 1 is Kennewick Southridge quarterback Jason Munns. The 6-foot-4, 229-pounder was a pre-evaluation period Rivals100 selection and he committed early to BYU. Munns stock might have fallen just slightly this spring, but he still has plenty of arm and knowledge to be a success in the BYU offense.
Behind him, though, are two rapidly climbing quarterbacks.
At No. 3 on the list is Auburn dual-threat quarterback Kellen Kiilsgaard. The 6-foot-3, 215-pounder has 4.6-second speed in the 40-yard dash and has offers from Cal, Oregon, Oregon State, Stanford, Washington State and Idaho. What's very exciting about him, is that if things don't work out at quarterback, he's good enough to contribute at safety, receiver or a number of other positions.
Oregon State snagged a commitment from the No. 4 player in Washington – Mill Creek Jackson quarterback Jake Gelakoska. The 6-3, 205-pounder is also in the dual-threat mold and after throwing for 1,900 yards and rushing for almost 400 yards, he is the perfect fit for Oregon State's offensive style and system.
The Beavers also get a quarterback that has the all important leadership skills that the position requires. He's a hard worker and has a great passion for the game. Gelakoska fits the profile of the modern day quarterback who is very athletic. He also has good arm strength and is an excellent decision maker.
Washington has done a very solid job of recruiting in-state with commitments from three of the top six players. The Huskies have made it a priority to keep the top talent at home after seeing some great players get away from them the past few years.
UDub already has Izbicki locked down and it also has pledges from Emeka Iweka, an offensive tackle that's ranked at No. 5 in the state, and Quinton Richardson, a safety that is at No. 6 in the state.
Washington State's lone commitment in the top 10 at this point is from Burien Kennedy offensive center Kevin Freitag.
