The future is all about football for 2015 five-star wide receiver George Campbell, but after visiting North Carolina for the Tar Heels basketball game against Duke earlier this week, the 6-foot-3, 183-pound prospect has a new appreciation for hoops.
"It was sick everybody rushed the court and even I did," Campbell said. "Just a game like that was a great atmosphere and the fans really know how to have a good time."
In addition to watching some highly entertaining basketball, Campbell also got a chance to learn more about the Tar Heels football program.
"It was fun," Campbell said. "I got to hang out with Coach [Larry] Fedora and Coach Richardson. Those coaches keep it real with me and let me hear what I needed to not what I wanted to."
The visit to Chapel Hill came on the heels of a visit to Florida earlier this moth. Campbell said he's still eager to get more face time with new Gators offensive coordinator Kurt Roper.
"When I was there I really didn't get to talk a lot to Coach [Kurt] Roper," Campbell said. "I got to say a few words to him and it was pretty cool seeing what he has in store for Florida's offense."
While he's still getting to know Roper, Campbell said he's very comfortable with Gators wide receivers coach Joker Phillips.
"That is who I mostly deal with," said Campbell of Phillips. "I also talk with Coach [Will] Muschamp a lot from there. Both of those coaches are great guys and they said they are ready to move to an up tempo offense and he's ready to get into it."
After committing to Michigan early in the process before reversing course, Campbell said he's taking his time now and doesn't have any favorites.
"I don't even know right now honestly," said Campbell. "I am just laid back and just letting things go smooth as I can. I have talked with my coaches about it and I think I won't cut down my list until after the season."
As far as his next trip, Campbell said he's not in any hurry to plan his anything now.
"I just go as they come up and that's pretty much how it goes," he said. "Any chance I get to visit a school I am going to take it. I just don't have anything planned."
