Four-star Newton, Texas, wide receiver Tamauzia Brown is one of the many high-profile Texas prospects making the rounds this weekend to several programs for visits, starting with a stop at TCU on Friday.

His affection for the Frogs has grown over the offseason, as the staff has been more proactive in recruiting him and presenting him with the sort of opportunities that he’s looking for when he starts his college career. However, there are some more basic reasons as well.

“I like TCU because I like purple – it’s my favorite color,” he said. “Every time I go there, it’s so much like Newton – not too big, not too small – all the coaches, the staff, everyone’s nice up there.”

Brown will also make a pass by Baylor on Sunday to camp. He said that the Bears and Minnesota were two teams in particular that have also come back to the forefront in his recruitment a bit, and that could come into play as he begins the process of which programs to take official visits to with the fall approaching.

“[Baylor] is just like TCU; hitting my phone up more than a lot of other teams,” he said. “Minnesota, I’ve already had the offer from them, but they just started hitting me up more again trying to see if I could come up there for a visit to see the facility and stuff like that.”

IN HIS WORDS

On TCU

“I’m just going up there to hang out,” he said. “They’re one of my top schools because they’re always checking on how I’m doing just about every single day. A lot of other schools haven’t been hitting me up so much anymore, so I’m not paying attention to those schools. I’m just paying attention to the ones that are trying to get me, show love and stuff like that.”

“I’m just looking forward to going out there and having a good time,” he said. “Talking with Coach (Jeremy) Modkins – that’s my favorite coach at TCU – every single day, he just texts me no matter what. Even if I don’t reply, he still texts me every single day.”
