4-star LB Breon Dixon down to Ole Miss, Louisville

The Latest: Four-star linebacker Breon Dixon has narrowed his list to two schools in advance of his decision during Sunday’s game, with Louisville and Ole Miss making the cut. Each school hosted Dixon for an official visit prior to the dead period and Dixon told Rivals.com on Tuesday that he’s still undecided, with even his own mother pressing him for details on where he will end up. We caught up with him to get the details.

In His Words:

Ole Miss: “I went there for the Egg Bowl and even though they lost it was a great experience. It’s clear they have a lot of talent on offense, not just Shea but other guys as well. They just need some players on defense, especially at linebacker and that’s where I fit in. The Grove was great. I got in Saturday morning and we straight through and got to really get a feel for it. I know a lot of people there, away from the football program, old teammates who are in school there now. I had a great experience there overall. I see that they need me and they need somebody that’s going to stop the run and I can do that and play against the pass.”

Louisville: “Coach Grantham has been recruiting me since I was in the 9th grade so there’s a great relationship there and he has a great relationship with my mom as well. I went up on a weekend when they didn’t have a game so I got to spend a lot of time with him and the coaches. They’ve shown me the ability they have to put guys in the NFL and they showed me the list when I was there. They play a physical, quick, attacking style defense and I think that’s what helps their players get drafted. With Coach Grantham there they are running a pro-style defense and that’s every player’s goal to get to the next level so that would be big for me.”

“It’s going to come down to where I’m the most comfortable off the football field because football-wise I feel good at both schools. Both places I’ll have a chance to compete for a championship. That’s what makes it so hard.”

Rivals Reaction: Dixon seems truly undecided, with plans to call both coaching staffs tonight to give them one last chance to at winning him over. As an early enrollee, Dixon will have to make a decision quickly as he said he has no plans to push back his decision or his enrollment date.
