Penn State has landed their second four-star commitment in less than a week. Defensive back Jonathan Sutherland from Alexandria (Va.) Episcopal School announced his verbal commitment on his Twitter account.
IN HIS OWN WORDS…
“I chose Penn State because I’ve had a relationship with them since I was in the seventh grade," Sutherland said. "I really feel comfortable there and it’s a good mix of academics and good football.
“Sitting down with coach Banks and talking about where I would fit into their defense and being around the player and future teammates made me feel really comfortable," he said. "I’m going to compete wherever I go. The safety spot is going to have good depth so I’ll have to compete and hopefully play as a freshman.”
RIVALS’ REACTION
Sutherland will be a nice addition to the Penn State secondary. He brings a physical attitude to the defense and has a good nose for the ball. Sutherland’s skillset will complement the defensive backs Penn State already has and he will be a factor defending against the run as well as the pass.
