FT. WORTH, Tx. -- Three-star North Richland Hills linebacker DaShaun White has been reaping the benefits of a successful spring, and was one of the top recruits at Sunday’s Lone Star Prospects Showcase.

Last month, at the Dallas leg of the Rivals Three Stripe Camp Series presented by Adidas, White took linebacker MVP honors after having a strong day in pass coverage. On Sunday, he excelled with his work in the open-field tackling one-on-one reps with the running backs.

Now, nearing the home-stretch of spring football, White is starting to get serious about zeroing-in on a list of final schools to make a potential commitment to.

“Right now I’m waiting until after the school visit period and then I’ll be narrowing it down to maybe five-or-six,” he said on Sunday.

White confirmed that Arkansas, Oklahoma State, and Texas A&M are all likely to make that list when it comes out. He called the trio his “strongest three teams right now.”

IN HIS WORDS

On Arkansas, where he visited on the 4/29 weekend

“I just like how different Arkansas is,” he said. “I like Coach (Chad) Walker - he’s a funny guy, he’s got energy and Iike that. I like that they’re a program that likes to win, but it’s not all about winning, it’s about family too.”

Recapping his visit

“It was nice, real nice,” he said. “My favorite thing was probably the mountains, just driving through - that was a great view, I loved it.”

On Oklahoma State

“Believe it or not, I actually have my best relationship with [graduate assistant Andre Sexton],” he said. “He’s been talking to me since one of my games last season and started recruiting me early ... He’s a coach that makes me feel at home, so with that, that’s really the biggest thing for me.

“With the culture they have there, I think they’re going to be a really good football team there the next couple of years.”

On Texas A&M

“I just want to keep building that relationship with the coaches,” he said. “That’s the biggest reason they are one of my top choices; because my relationship with the coaches is so strong. If that keeps going on, I’m pretty sure they’ll be part of my decision.”

On his relationship with Terry Price

“He’s a jokester,” he said. “I can tell him anything and he listens and gives me advice. He’s not just recruiting me, he’s helping me with some life stuff but we’ll just joke around about anything.”

RIVALS REACTION

White has been showing his versatility all spring, so it’s no surprise how many teams have entered the race for him. His remarks about having the best relationship with Sexton are interesting, but in addition to the three programs he discussed, it's worth mentioning that Oklahoma is a recent offer and White is in the mold of 2017 linebacker signee from Texas, Kenneth Murray.
