ATLANTA, Ga. – 2020 Rivals100 defensive back Dwight McGlothern has long been the target of some of the best programs in Texas and the southeast. Now, as the summer ahead of his junior season begins, he’s hoping to add a few more programs to his portfolio of offers.

Auburn, Florida, Florida State and USC are all teams that he names when asked about teams he would like to see turn interest into offers, because he’s already got a couple of big ones that have been weighing heavy in his recruitment to-date. Notably, Alabama and Texas A&M have been the most present with him and following his appearance in the Pylon 7-on-7 National Championships over the weekend, he made a stop in Tuscaloosa that ended with a tweet featuring head coach Nick Saban.

Outside of the Aggies and Crimson Tide – and some of the other teams mentioned south of the Mason-Dixon Line that he’s had interest in – McGlothern said that Penn State has kept up its interest in him and is staying in the picture with him as he continues to consider sort through the programs that have offered him and where they fall within his recruitment.

“They’re great,” he said. “I love the whole staff and am always talking to them. They’re cool – I’m their top priority in Texas, I feel like they mostly come down to Texas for me. I like them, like their character and they’re building leaders.”

IN HIS WORDS

On Alabama

“Coach (Karl) Scott is always checking up on me and stuff,” he said. “He’s always talking to my parents when we call him and he’s just a cool person. He’s a cool DB coach and it feels like I know him like a cousin or something. He’s not like other DB coaches that think they’re the stuff – he’s a really cool person and I like him.”

“I’ve been looking forward to meeting the new DB’s and building more of a connection out there,” he said. “If that’s the place that I want to be, then I am going to try my hardest to let them know that. If you’ve ever been up there, you know it’s straight business. They’ve been winning national championships, but I’m also hoping to see a little something different.”

On Texas A&M

“They’re great, I’m always up there,” he said. “I have people up there and whenever I go up there, I go with a couple of other guys and we train with Leon (O’Neal). We just put in work and chill up there all the time … Jimbo (Fisher) is a great coach. He knows what to do, is very relaxed, and he has so much confidence.

“When I was talking to him he was making me laugh talking about how he could not get blown out by LSU this year,” he added. “He was like, we’ve got to fix that big time and he knows how to win. He’s already got a ring.”
