Cincinnati (Ohio) Winton Woods will be the focus of many college coaches this fall due to the depth of Division I talent on their roster. One of the top 2015 prospects on that squad is linebacker David Long.
The 6-foot, 210-pound Long holds early offers from Illinois and Kent State. He followed up his offer from the Illini by spending time on their campus this summer.
"I went up there for a camp," Long said. "Coach [Alex] Golesh showed me around before I camped. I really liked the coaches there and the [stadium]."
Long also spent three days at a camp with the University of Arkansas, and was excited about the feedback he received from their coaching staff.
"Arkansas, I am real high on their list and I think I should be getting an offer soon. I really love their coaches - they are real cool and I have a good relationship with Coach Taver [Johnson]. Coach Taver is just a real cool coach. I can just talk to him regularly."
Other schools that have shown interest in Long early in the recruiting process include Indiana, Michigan State and Penn State.
"I am real big on Michigan State too," Long said. "I am supposed to be going up there for a game, maybe the Michigan State-Michigan game. Coach [Harlon] Barnett, I talk to him a lot and he is my recruiting coach."
With several of his teammates also being Division I recruits, Long said they will travel to several college games this fall as a group.
"Me and George [Brown] will be going to a lot of games together," he said. "I will also be going with Jerrell Foster, or corner, to the Pitt-Florida State game [on Sept. 2]."
Long will man the middle of Winton Woods' 3-4 defense this fall, and is primarily being recruited as an inside linebacker.
