2010 VA athlete lands first offer

Woodberry Forest, Va. 2010 athlete Aramide Olaniyan picked up his first offer this week. The 6-foot-2, 191-pounder landed the scholarship from across the country. Who pulled the trigger?
"I got my first offer from Stanford yesterday after my first class," he said. "I was checking my mail, not expecting it. It was very exciting that I got it the day before my birthday. It is a written offer.

"I'm excited. They are definitely at the top of my list right now. Academically there is no other school that can compete. I do want to get up there for a visit sometime."
Does anything stick out about Stanford right now?
"Obviously the education, but the fact they are in the Pac-10 too," he said. "It's a change of environment. I've never been to California. It's a great school and I know my parents are happy. They definitely are in love with Stanford already."
While his first offer is in, Olaniyan is making plans to visit other schools in the future.
"This weekend I'm going to North Carolina to watch them play Virginia Tech," he said. "I also have plans to go to Boston College when they play Clemson, Duke for the North Carolina game and Virginia when they face ECU."
As he landed his first offer, Olaniyan believes more could be coming.
"I think Boston College is probably the next closest to offer," he said. "They talk to my coach a lot and I'm in touch with them.
"A lot of the schools want my film including Notre Dame, Georgia Tech, Wake Forest and North Carolina."
So far this season, the junior prospect has posted six tackles, three sacks and one forced fumble in one half of play.
"We won 55-7," he said. "I think we have a great team."
