After learning earlier today that five-star cornerback Dee Webb had committed to the Gators, word surfaced that the top player in Alabama Chad Jackson had committed to UF last Wednesday.
The story first broke in the Birmingham News about the five-star receiver from Hoover, Ala., and then his coach confirmed the news to Rivals100.
“I think it was just a case of Florida recruiting him harder and better than any other school that was after him,” Hoover coach Rush Propst said.
“He came in and said he just felt like he could go to Florida and be a bigger part of their offense right away. They have all of those quarterbacks and young linemen, too. He told me it was a soft commitment and he might still take another visit, but I don’t think he’s going to change his mind.”
Propst did confirm that Jackson was planning on still visiting Georgia, but he said the Gator coaches are encouraging him to not take the visit.
Rivals100 hopes to speak with Jackson today to talk more about his decision to become a Gator. When reached this morning, his mother did confirm, however, that he had committed to UF last Wednesday.
