Youboty commits to Ohio State

"I've committed to Ohio State," defensive back Ashton Youboty said.
"I had my choices down to Ohio State and Penn State. Basically I thought about it and felt academically the quarter system at Ohio State is better for me credit wise."

"I liked both schools a lot overall and this was a tough decision," Youboty said moments ago. "But I had to make a decision and I just chose Ohio State. Recruiting-wise, they are taking some other DBs in this class. It will be neat to go in there with those guys.
"I was happy with my trip there and I liked the environment. Plus, academically, they're on quarters. I think I like that system the best."
Youboty (6-1, 180, 4.5) said he would like to enroll at OSU in January to have a chance to get acclimated and increase his chances of playing in 2003.
"I believe I'll enroll in January," he said. "I have enough credits to graduate now. I'll be able to go through spring practice.
"I think that would give me an advantage," he said. "That would help me to learn the Ohio State terminology and get to know the campus."
Youboty had played cornerback until this season, when injuries to a pair of safeties on his team forced him to move over to safety. As a senior, he had 60 tackles and three interceptions.
"Ohio State has basically been recruiting me as a cornerback," Youboty said. "I think that's what I'll be playing there."
