Yelton in a hurry to start college career

Chesterton, Ind., punter Kyle Yelton, who committed to Illinois earlier this month, had a fine senior season. But now Yelton is ready to move on to the next level.
"I'm going to graduate in January," Yelton said. "I'll be able to go through spring ball. I'll be there for spring semester. Hopefully it will help me for next fall.

"Illinois wanted to see if graduating early was possible because their punter is graduating. When they brought it up I was really excited. It was what I wanted to do. I can get a jump on things."
Before he committed to the Fighting Illini Yelton was going to visit Western Michigan.
"I was scheduled to visit Western Michigan Jan. 13," Yelton said. "But I'm not going to be able to do that now that I'm graduating early."
The 6-foot-1 and 180 pound Yelton averaged 42 yards per punt during his senior season. He also kicked field goals and extra points, but will concentrate on punting for the Illini.
"I'm just going to go there and work hard," Yelton said. "You have to pay your dues."
