Yates to visit WMU

Western Michigan was the first school to offer Oak Park (Ill.) River Forest quarterback Lloyd Yates, and the 6-foot, 180-pound prospect is ready to make his first visit to Kalamazoo.
"I am going to Western Michigan this Saturday," Yates said. "I have heard great things about the place, so I am excited to check it out."

The offer from Western Michigan came last month. He has since started to build a relationship with their coaching staff.
"Coach [Tim] McGarigle, we talk a lot and he's real cool," Yates said. "He is easy to talk to and I can't wait to meet him."
Yates starred at quarterback for Oak Park River Forest this past season, but Western Michigan could take him at another position.
"They really haven't said whether I'll play defense or offense," Yates said. "They are not looking at me strictly for quarterback; it is for athlete. They said they really like my athleticism."
Yates is open to other positions in college, but does prefer to play quarterback because it is the position he is most familiar with.
Following the Western Michigan visit, Yates plans to check out Northern Illinois and Illinois State this spring. He is also targeting a summer visit tour of Ivy League schools and is receiving mail from a host of traditional-BCS programs.
"I have been getting a lot of mail from Michigan State, Northwestern, Iowa, Purdue, Indiana, Iowa State, Syracuse and Ivy League schools like Princeton, Harvard and Yale," Yates said.
