THE LATEST

Back in January Blake announced he would be making his college selection on his mother’s birthday, May 15. Earlier this week, however, Blake revealed he was moving that announcement up to March 17 at 3:30 p.m. CT and that he would be announcing his four finalists exactly one week prior. His two most recent visits went to Minnesota on Feb. 19 and Northwestern just this past weekend. Virginia, Missouri and Duke are additional schools that Blake mentioned are under strong consideration.

IN HIS WORDS

“The catalyst was just realizing what I needed to do. Monday was when I kind of (knew) this was what I needed to do and it just all made sense. I am ready.”

RIVALS’ REACTION

Officially Blake will release four finalists on Friday, but this recruitment appears to be shaping up as a Minnesota-Northwestern battle and based on his comments, the decision may already be made in his mind. Blake said he woke up Monday with a clear focus on what he needed to do. That was a day after he returned from an overnight visit to Northwestern, so it does appear the Wildcats are the lynchpin here. The visit could have convinced him to continue his career in Evanston, or it may have been the final place he needed to check out before confirming another place was the choice. Either way, we will find out next week Friday.
