WVU makes play on Rivals100 LB

If Bill Stewart expects to sustain the momentum that was built under Rich Rodriguez’s tenure at West Virginia, he’d better start with recruiting speed. A recent offer to one of the best Miami, Fla. has to offer proves that Stewart is thinking just that.
Rivals100 linebacker Frankie Telfort out of Miami (Fla.) Gulliver Prep added another offer to his long list today when Stewart sent him not just an offer letter but some accompanying mail to go with it.

"They sent the offer in the mail to my house today and I think I got like 10 letters too from each of the coaches," Telfort said. "It was funny. One of the coaches wrote that he really wanted me to come but please don't hit my quarterbacks that hard when you get here."
The unique approach left an impression on Telfort.
"I thought that was great," he said. "That has never happened to me before. I maybe got like one letter from Steve Spurrier and that was hand written on a card but never from each of the coaches. That definitely stood out."
Though the gesture was nice, Telfort sited other reasons why he is interested in the Mountaineers with one big one being an assistant coach.
"I always thought that West Virginia was a good school. I knew Doc Holliday came from Florida so there must be something special up there. I'm definitely gonna take a trip there this summer to see what the campus is like and see how it is."
Telfort and his family have built a strong relationship with Doc Holliday through the Florida camp circuit and having the West Virginia native on the coaching staff should help WVU in its recruitment of the four-star prospect.
Along with West Virginia, Telfort has already received offers from the likes of Florida State, LSU, Alabama and Georgia Tech.
"I definitely am considering going to all of them," Telfort said of the schools that have shown interest. "Those are all great schools and have great academics."
Telfort's offseason will include some camps and combines, some lifting and running, and a track season that begins this Friday.
"I have a meet on Friday," he said. "I'm probably going to run the 200, 4x100 and the long jump. I just want to improve me in all aspects. I want to try to get bigger and try to gain another 20 pounds before the season starts because in the middle of the season you lose like 10 pounds. And speed. You can never have too much speed. Speed kills."
No one knows that speed kills more than Bill Stewart which is why Frankie Telfort is such a high priority.
