WSU lands a good one

Winning always helps a team’s recruiting efforts and winning is definitely helping the Washington State Cougars. One of the West Coast’s fastest rising offensive linemen has said yes to Mike Price and the Washington State Cougars.
Bobby Byrd (6-7, 285, 5.2) from Oceanside, Calif., committed to Washington State on Wednesday night (October 30th), he chose the Cougars over Washington and Oregon, after visiting all three schools.

The Cougars get a player who has outstanding footwork. Though he is a pretty good run blocker, Byrd is a stellar pass blocker.
Byrd has those nice long arms that work so well in pass protection. Once he gets his wings underneath pad level, it is over for the defender.
Byrd has made tremendous strides and made improvements on his overall play from his junior season when he was an all-conference selection.
Byrd is just coming into his own as a football player and has his best days on the gridiron ahead of him.
“We are real happy about it”, Byrd’s mother said. “Bobby likes the cold weather!”
“It’s public knowledge now because they ran it in our local papers this morning”.
Byrd called the Oregon and Washington coaches to thank them for recruiting him and tell them he had made his decision.
This a great get for the Cougars. Byrd is the type of player who will help the Cougars stay competitive in Pac10 play in the very near future.
