Position: Safety
Size and Speed: Wrighter is 6-foot tall and weighs 205 pounds. He was clocked last weekend at 4.56 seconds in the 40-yard dash. He also has recorded a 315-pound bench press.
Statistics: Wrighter pulled in seven interceptions as a junior. He recorded 74 tackles last season as well. He also rushed for 688 yards as a part-time running back in 2002.
Honors: Wrighter will be in his fourth year of starting for Marlin in 2003. He has been named first-team all-district each of his first three seasons.
Favorite Schools: Arkansas and Texas Christian are already on board with scholarship offers extended to Wrighter. Oklahoma, Colorado, Notre Dame, Missouri and Kansas State have also expressed interest.
Skinny: "D'Nerian is a super football player," Marlin coach Jerry Malone said. "He's been a starter for three years already for us and he's been a very good player each season. D'Nerian is going to make a great college player. But on top of that, he is a great kid to have around your team."
Malone said his office has been a busy place recently.
"Arkansas and TCU have offered him scholarships already. Oklahoma is coming by here today to talk to me about him. Notre Dame and Missouri are coming by on Friday to the school."
Two more schools are jumping into the mix as of today.
"Colorado and Kansas State have requested film today of him. It will go out in the mail to them today. Colorado has indicated they will try and come by next week and visit more about him. I'm sure Kansas State will come by after they get to watch the film."
Wrighter will be making his way to a couple of camps this summer.
"D'Nerian went to the Nike camp last weekend. He also is planning to go to one-day camps at Texas A&M, Texas and TCU. The one day camps are a good thing. They let kids run there one day, see the school, meet the coaches and then return home. It works very well for everyone that way."
Wrighter added a housemate a little over a year ago, when teammate Matterial Richardson found his mother moving to Dallas.
"Matterial wanted to stay here," Malone said. "So, he moved in with D'Nerian's family. The two of them are like brothers."
