Wright waiting it out

To show you how deep the Coffeyville (Kan.) Community College defense is this season, take a look at the situation with outside linebacker Fred Wright.
He started as a freshman for the Red Ravens and was on his way to All-America honors before he got injured. He's fully healed and was expected to play a big role in the Coffeyville defense this season, however, the former Kansas State signee ended up redshirting this season because of a wealth of depth at the position for his team.

"Even though I got redshirted, I'm still ready to play," he said. "I was frustrated about it at first, but this is the best move for me in the future. I now have three years to play three seasons, so that's a thing that coaches will look at even more."
Wright, who is 5-foot-11 and 195 pounds, said the Wildcats remain the team that's contacted him the most so far this fall.
"I haven't been talking to anybody really other than Kansas State," he said. "They haven't offered me yet. I was redshirted this year so I won't be playing. But they want me to come up for a visit. I like Central Michigan. I like Clemson. And I've been getting a lot of mail from Iowa State, too."
Wright said he likes what he's seen so far from the new Wildcat coaches.
"I haven't had a chance to talk to Ron Prince yet, but he seems like he's a pretty cool coach," he said. "I'm supposed to go up there for a game some time soon. I'd like to check them out in a Big 12 game."
When it does come time to make a decision Wright said he has a few things in mind.
"I want to play for a good program," he said. "I also want to be at a a school that wants to win."
