WR Williams still a soft commitment

Wide receiver Deyon Williams gave a verbal commitment to Virginia back in September, but has maintained that the recruiting process is not over. Is Williams still planning on attending UVA, or are other schools catching up?
"I'm still a soft commitment to Virginia," said the 6-foot-3, 185-pound receiver. "I don't know if I'll take any official visits or anything. I have one scheduled to Pitt for Dec. 13, so I'll probably go there, but beyond that I don't know."

Williams has that rare combination of size, speed and hands that coaches and offensive coordinators value so greatly. What made him pick Virginia in the first place?
"I decided to give a soft verbal to UVA a while back because I like so much about it. The program and the coaches are great and I like the academics too. They make sure that football players have tutors so you can succeed off the field. They also told me they wanted some more depth at receiver."
So since Williams gave his verbal to UVA, have other teams backed off?
"Actually Syracuse and Pittsburgh are recruiting me harder. I've told Pitt a few times that I'm still planning on going to UVA but they still contact me all the time."
As it stands, Williams has offers to Virginia, Pitt, Penn State, Kent State, Syracuse and Clemson.
"I played free safety and wide receiver this year," said the two-way star from Marlboro (Md.) Suitland. "Virginia wants me as a receiver to help develop the offense in the future. I really like their offensive coordinator. He's a really smart coach.
"We lost in the first round of the playoffs to finish the year 8-2. I'm still getting a ton of stuff from other schools, but I only really pay attention to a few of them."
