WR Walker boosting grades

Coaches have been interested in the academic situation of wide receiver Jeff Walker for a little while now and that's one big reason he only has one offer.
The 6-foot-5, 197-pound prospect from Akron (Oh.) Coventry still holds an offer from Bowling Green but more could be on the way.

"I just took two summer classes online over the summer and I got A's in both," Walker explained. "That's going to boost my GPA up. Hopefully when colleges see that they'll realize I've got my head on straight.
"I already took the ACT last year and I got an 18, so I'm thinking about taking another after the season. Most schools think that's good enough for me, though.
"A lot of schools just want to see my first three games on film, so hopefully I'll get more offers when they see that."
Who has been keeping in touch with Walker recently?
"I'm talking to Pitt, Cincinnati, Illinois and West Virginia," he said. "Mostly those schools. My three favorites are Pitt, Cincinnati and Illinois.
"I like that Pitt is out of state but it's close enough that my family could watch my games. Based on what I've heard from the staff it sounds like they're moving in the right direction. I think their team is ready to become a national competitor again and I'd like to be a part of that. They're getting a lot of hype this season.
"With Cincinnati, I really like their facilities. I also like their coaching staff. The location thing with them is basically the same as it is with Pitt. They're on the rise, too, and had a great season in the Big East last year. I'd like to be a part of that.
"Illinois has been my favorite team since last year when I visited. They've got a great team. I like that they want to bring in play makers. If they offered I would definitely verbal, then maybe look around after the season."
Walker is a three-star recruit and rated the No. 83 wide receiver in the nation.
