WR Torres drawing interest in May

Chicago (Ill.) Lane Tech junior wide receiver prospect Xavier Torres (6-foot-1, 180 pounds) had the perfect stage to show his skills last Thursday. Torres was one of the standout receivers at the first ever Maine South Quarterback Camp Showcase, which featured several of the state's top quarterbacks along with over 50 college coaches in attendance.
"I really enjoyed the quarterback camp last week," Torres said. "It gave me a chance to show the college coaches some of what I can do on the field. I was really impressed at how well organized everything was and I was also stunned at how many college coaches attended the event. It was just a crazy amount of coaches in one place."

Torres has started to see some increased recruiting attention since his camp performance last Thursday.
"My head coach (Rich Rio) said that several coaches came up to him at the QB Camp and talked to him about me. We've also have had several in school visitors. Minnesota, Wisconsin, Bowling Green, Air Force, Central Michigan and Illinois have all made in school visits."
Torres, who caught 32 passes for 1,027 yards and 9 touchdowns in 2004, has also drawn a few calls so far during the May evaluation period.
"I've received calls from both Central Michigan and Western Illinois. I really enjoyed talking to the coaches from both schools, and I'm looking seriously at both schools."
Torres is also planning a busy summer schedule.
"I'm going to one day camps this summer at Central Michigan, Wisconsin, Northwestern and Bowling Green."
