WR Makes Surprise Choice

Tampa (Fla.) Plant wide receiver Mike Williams has surprised a few people down in Florida with his college choice.
"I'm going to USC," said the 6-foot-5, 200-pounder who chose the Trojans over Florida and Purdue. "I really liked the coaching staff there and Pete Carroll. I had a great visit back in November and just felt it was the right fit."

Williams, who also plays basketball, will limit himself to one sport out in California.
"I don't think I'll be playing hoops," he said. "Football is what I'm going there to play and that will be my focus."
Williams had originally committed to the Gators back in November but backed off those statements just a few days later. Florida apparently wanted him as a tight end or defensive end and his preference was to play as a wideout.
