WR Lewis drawing plenty of interest

Gurnee (Ill.) junior wide receiver prospect Marcus Lewis (6-foot-1, 185 pounds) from Warren Township High School hasn't been able to make any college junior day football events so far this winter. Blame the fact that Lewis is leading the Blue Devils on the hardwood as one of the main factors in why he hasn't been able to make the rounds.
"I've been getting plenty of college junior day invitations," Lewis said. "It's just that I've been pretty wrapped up in my basketball season and most of those events have been conflicting with my basketball games. I'm hoping to be able to check out a handful of schools on my spring break and hopefully see a spring practice or a spring game."

Lewis has been a main contributor to the Blue Devils success on the hardwood this winter. Warren is currently ranked as one of the top schools in Chicagoland with an impressive 20-3 overall record.
"Things have been going pretty well for us on the court so far this year. We have some big games left before we start the playoffs next week, so we'll need to keep things going strong from here on out. We want to win a state title and I think we can definitely get it done if we continue to play hard."
Lewis, who caught 50 passes for 778 yards and 9 touchdowns in 2004, has been getting plenty of mail and football recruiting interest this winter.
"I've been getting mail and junior day invites from Illinois, Wisconsin, Northwestern, Northern Illinois and Ball State and mail from several other schools."
Lewis doesn't have any favorites at this point, but he does know which sport he wants to play at the next level.
"I love both hoops and football, but football is definitely my sport of choice for college. I'm just looking for a chance to play at the next level, and I'll listen to any schools that are interested."
