WR Lane close to commitment

Virginia Beach (Va.) Salem wide receiver Shannon Lane took his second official visit this past weekend and, according to his coach, a decision could come soon.
"I haven't talked with Shannon in depth about his visit to Virginia, but I do know he had a good time," said Salem head coach Chris Beatty of his 6-foot-0, 190-pound star. "I know Shannon also liked Boston College quite a bit and he has Virginia Tech set for this weekend. I can't imagine he'll take much longer to decide."

One thing that favors the Cavaliers and the Hokies quite a bit is their proximity to home.
"I think Shannon's mother would really like him to stay in state and close to home if she had a choice," said Beatty. "That gives Virginia an advantage I think because she also likes their academics and they're closer to home. UVA is only about two hours away while Tech is further."
So could Lane commit this week before taking any other trips?
"I'm not sure," he said. "I think he wants to take his visit to Virginia Tech because he likes the coaches and his cousin (fullback Cedric Humes) is there. We'll see."
