WR Lampkins lands first offer, decides

Wide receiver Chris Lampkins made a decision earlier today. The 6-foot-2, 172-pounder landed his first scholarship and committed very soon after.
"I got my first offer today from Oregon State and I committed," he said. "I went to the camp a few days ago and they got back to me about an offer.

"I thought it through with my family about moving west and they all approved. I made my decision and told Coach Riley. He was excited. He was happy I wanted to join the team and commit to the Beavers. He welcomed me with open arms."
Lampkins discussed what made him jump on the offer.
"Basically it was the environment," he said. "I fell in love with the campus and the whole state of Oregon, it's a wonderful place that I can call home. I felt like it was like my home, Martinsville, Virginia where I grew up till second grade.
"In addition, I really liked the facilities, they were nice. I love the locker room area and the thing about the campus is that everything is a ten-minute walk away. It's all within walking distance."
Not surprisingly the coaching staff was important too.
"The coaches were real laid back and welcoming to me," he said. "I liked the coaches better than those on the East Coast. I've got to be honest. They felt like family figures to me."
Lampking is transferring to Oak Ridge Military Academy for his senior season and plans to enroll on time next summer at Oregon State.
