WR Gates lands his second offer

Davidson (N.C.) Davidson Day wide receiver Evan Gates landed his second offer recently. The 6-foot-0, 193-pounder discussed the latest scholarship and his plans remaining this summer.
"I've been to a few camps so far, Wake Forest, North Carolina and East Carolina," he said. "I went to Wake Forest and Coach Galloway told me I'm definitely an offer able guy. They want to see my senior film and they'll get back to me at the end of the summer, but I performed well up there.

"North Carolina likes me a lot. They are recruiting me pretty hard. Coach Brewer wanted me to come up on Thursday to their elite camp, but I have a 7-on-7 I'm going to and wasn't able to make it. They like me a lot and hopefully I should receive an offer soon."
As for East Carolina, Gates received his second offer, joining Appalachian State.
"East Carolina offered me at their camp," he stated. "It's a pretty big offer. I liked East Carolina a lot. I performed well at the camp and I did well in every drill. East Carolina is a good school and I'm ecstatic about the offer."
A few more camps are still coming for Gates including NC State this weekend, South Carolina and Tennessee.
So, does he like anyone?
"I like East Carolina a good bit. I like them a lot," he said. "I liked North Carolina a lot and hopefully we'll see what happens there."
No matter what, Gates is looking for a few things in a school with a few remaining trips this summer coming.
"I want a good connection with the coaching staff," he said. "I want a family-oriented environment and I want to see how competitive the school is and check out the environment and how the coaches are. I don't just want to be a number, but more of a player."
