WR Ellis recaps UMD visit

One of Maryland's top junior targets was on hand for their game against Rutgers over the weekend. Hyattsvile (Md.) DeMatha Rivals250 wide receiver Tino Ellis got a good feel for the game day atmosphere in College Park.
"It was a good visit," said the 6-foot-1, 185-pound Ellis. "I went there by myself. I was a tough loss and the coaches were upset but it was a good visit. This visit was different because it was actually a game setting. I got to see some of the fans, some of the game plan and see how the coaches are during the game. I really liked the support from the fans. Some of them knew who I was and were telling me they want me to come there. I met a lot of other coaches too."

Ellis wasn't the only other prominent local Maryland target at the game.
"I was talking to Dwayne Haskins Jr., Morgan Scroggins from Calvert Hall and Eric Burrell from McDonogh," he said. "We were talking about the recruiting process. Some times it can be difficult but you just needs to find ways to visits schools and everything."
A couple of other schools are recruiting Ellis very hard.
"Rutgers is the school that I'm closest to," Ellis said. "They talk to me every day on Twitter. Also West Virginia. I talk to those coaches up there and Pittsburgh as well. I talk to those three the most."
Ellis was very impressed with how Rutgers beat Maryland.
"It was a huge comeback for them," he said. "I thought it was over when Maryland was up by 20 point at the end of the second quarter. They came back out of nowhere and it was a good win. I think I could make a huge impact there, inside or outside. I have seen that they've been targeting Maryland a lot. They also have one of our DeMatha alumni up there."
The relationship between Pitt and Ellis seems to be in its infancy.
"I'm staying in contact with Pitt and I'm learning more about them," said Ellis. "They reached out to me a couple months ago so I'm still finding things out about them."
Ellis' cousins, Jordan Adams and Jacquez Adams, are committed to West Virginia and it seems like the Mountaineers are high on Ellis' list as well.
"Things have been going pretty well for West Virginia," he said. "I like that they have one of the receivers, Kevin White, is a finalist for the Biletnikoff Award. I also like their offense and I like everything about West Virginia a lot."
One of the other schools that has been a major player in Ellis' recruitment is Virginia Tech.
"Things have been going well with Virginia Tech also," Ellis said. "I watch their game against Virginia. (Former teammate Cameron Phillips) did his thing."
Ellis helped DeMatha to a conference championship this year.
