WR Claude remains committed to Wake Forest

Class of 2015 three-star receiver Steven Claude of Hialeah (Fla.) Champagnat Catholic didn't initially intend on committing to Wake Forest during the Demon Deacons Friday Night Lights camp in June. However, after connecting with good friend and current Demon Deacon Jaboree Williams and seeing first-hand how his working relationship with the coaching staff would play out, he committed on the spot.
"I was planning on committing later," said Claude, who stands at 6-foot, 178 pounds. "But when I went there, Jaboree and I had a conversation about life and making decisions and he kind of told me the right things. That's when I set my mind on Wake Forest.

Also while at camp, he reinforced his relationship with assistant head coach Kevin Higgins.
"Sometimes you go to camps and there's known names and coaches will treat you like, "Oh, you're this person or that person." But at Wake Forest, they treated me like I was a normal player there. And that's what I liked. Everyone was equal and nobody was higher than anybody else. If I did something wrong, coach Higgins would come at me hard and I like that about him. Also, we talked and we're real cool. If I do something in practice, I know he'll get on me, but we'll also have a good relationship later on."
Claude said the Demon Deacons will use him in their "Z" position and that immediate playing time is a possibility.
"I know I'll have to always perform," he said.
Claude plans on majoring in biology then going to med school - but hopes to make it to the NFL before med school.
"I talked to the head of admissions and he said I can get into med school," he said. But I want to try to go to the NFL first because there's always life after football."
Claude said he's 100-percent committed to Wake Forest and that will be his only official visit.
He had 40 catches for 701 yards and 8 touchdowns last season.
