WR Cager talks officials

Wide receiver Lawrence Cager is set to begin taking his official visits this weekend. Virginia Tech will get the first chance to host the Towson (Md.) Calvert Hall star for a weekend.
Cager has also set his other four official visits to Wake Forest (November 21), Ohio State (November 28), Notre Dame (December 5) and Alabama (December 12) but two are working hard to get him on campus.

"These are just the five I've set up official visits to," said the 6-soot-5, 200-pound Cager. "They're the five I'm looking at in-depth. I still have a little interest in Miami and Ole Miss but the five schools I'm taking official visits to are the real ones.
"I might take some unofficial visits to those two," he said. "They are some great schools that need big receivers. The coaching staffs are talking to me a lot. The schools that are getting my official visits are my main focus. The fact that they offered so late and I had already set up my visits makes it tough."
All five of these schools bring something to the table that Cager really likes.
Alabama- "Coach Kiffin and coach Saban are great guys," he said. "I talk to them almost every week. I talk to coach Thompson almost every day. When I went to visit I spent some time with Amari Cooper so that was great."
Notre Dame- "The quarterback they got committed, Brandon Wimbush, is a big influence," Cager said. "Along with great football you got great academics to succeed in life after football or in the NFL. I think I have good shot there on the field. With Corey Robinson doing some good things it might be a battle but if I work hard like I'm supposed to I could maybe get in a little bit but once he's gone I think I could be the main focus."
Ohio State- "I have a great relationship with coach Zach Smith," he said. "I talk to him every day. Coach Meyer is telling me he really wants me there. He coaches the wide receivers and he really wants to coach me. Ohio State is a great place with a great fanbase."
Virginia Tech- "I've talking to coach Moorehead and coach Beamer ever since I was a freshman coming into Calvert Hall," said Cager. "I have a very strong relationship with them. I can talk to coach Moorehead about anything outside of football. They were the first school that was really on me."
Wake Forest- "I have my teammate (Wake Forest commit) Dionte Austin always in my ear," he said. "He's constantly talking to me about them. The fact that they really don't have a big receiver committed, the coaching staff is telling me how I could really be the centerpiece to this recruiting class and really get their recruiting going. I would be the man of the whole recruiting class."
With his recruitment narrowed down to seven, Cager still does not claim a leader.
"I think every school has a pretty good chance," Cager said. "All the schools are even right now because I haven't taken any visits yet. Right now I'm just going off of current football programs and their past. Once I get to visit I can say like one school and I don't like another that much. I think every school has an equal opportunity right now."
Cager is in touch with a few schools more than others.
"I talk to coach Kelly from Notre Dame a lot," he said. "Really the schools that I talk to most are Notre Dame, Ohio State, Miami and Ole Miss."
So far this season, Cager has hauled in seven touchdowns.
