WR Brown discusses ND pledge

Hanahan, S.C. wide receiver Chris Brown took a trip this past weekend to Notre Dame. Prior to leaving the 6-foot-2, 185-pounder gave his pledge to head coach Brian Kelly and the Irish.
"They were pretty excited about it," he said. "I told Coach Kelly and he was excited.

"They got their first win and it was a really exciting time. The coaches were really involved. I just committed cause of the tradition and after college, the program, everything about it."
The trip to South Bend was Brown's first ever.
"That was my first time there, they gave me a feeling of just the environment and the campus is beautiful," he said. "I liked the whole game atmosphere. The fans were motivated and spectacular, it was a sold out game."
So, what stood out about the Irish though?
"The coaching staff is pretty exciting," he said. "They are still trying to get it together. Coach Kelly is one of those coaches that is not too old and not too young. He still has a lot of energy about him.
"I feel the position at wide receiver is one that I wanted to play at any school. They throw the ball around a lot and I'm coming in to make plays for them. I also will have the opportunity to play both football and track.
"In track, they are in the Big East and that allows me to compete for a conference championship right away. Also, the academics are first class and I'll always be an alum and they set you up pretty good."
Heading into the visit, Brown had other trips planned can we assume those won't happen?
"My parents as a personal stand point are still with me that I'm committed to Notre Dame, but they want me to get a feeling about the other schools," he said. "I plan to take my official I believe to Virginia Tech on October 8th for the Miami game. That could possibly be the last visit for me. They are one of those schools that have always been high on my list and I just want to go up there, my parents want to go.
"My parents want to make sure I see it and have it on the table, make sure I make a good smart decision."
