WR already has 2 SEC offers

This past season Palm Bay, Fla., had seven Division I prospects – including Rivals100 selections Reggie Nelson and Joe Cohen. Next in line for the Class of 2004 is 6-foot-3, 190-pound receiver Xavier Carter.
Carter, who self-reported a 40-yard dash time of 4.33 seconds, already claims offers from Florida, LSU, Indiana and Central Florida, but that list is sure to grow and grow quickly.

“I get stuff from about every team in the nation,” Carter, who caries a 2.9 grade-average, said. “I think I’ve gotten stuff from more than 50 teams or so. It’s quite a bit.”
For the record, Carter said he does not have a leader and lists is early top teams as Florida State, Florida, Miami, Notre Dame, LSU, Georgia, Penn State, South Carolina, Ohio State, Michigan, UCLA and Rutgers. That’s a long, long list for a player that’s long in talent.
One SEC coach called Carter one of the nation’s elite targets for the Class of 2004.
As a junior, he racked up 28 receptions for 757 yards and nine touchdowns.
“I think my playing style is similar to the way Randy Moss plays,” Carter said.
“I can definitely beat you going vertical, but I can also catch the tough passes going across the middle. I can out jump most defensive backs, and I'm very physical. On my team we run the ball 76 percent of the time, so our receivers have to be able to block down field.
“Joe Cohen made a living off my blocks.”
Carter already has plans on camping at Florida, LSU and Miami, but he did admit that he grew up a fan of the Miami Hurricanes. But now the question is whether or not he’ll be tempted to follow former teammates Nelson and Cohen and continue the Palm Bay pipeline to UF.
“We’ll see,” Carter said.
Another interesting side note – Carter’s father attended Southern University, mother went to LSU and his uncle, Alonzo Jefferson, was a Parade All-America selection that played at Notre Dame in the early 80s.
