Wooten looking for first offer

Patrick Wooten is still waiting for his first offer and it could come at any time because the Gardena (Calif.) Serra defensive back is hearing from a bunch of schools and receiving lots of interest.
USC, Miami, Oregon State, Northwestern, Arizona, LSU and Washington are on the list for Wooten, a 5-foot-10, 190-pound safety who said the Hurricanes and Trojans are early favorites but that he's open to all programs.

"I think it's going to take until the summer passing leagues and some camps to get some offers," Wooten said last weekend at the Elijah Asante Elite Quarterback Camp. "I could get some during the season. I'm pretty sure I'm going to get some. I'm not really worried about that yet.
"I like Miami because they're aggressive. They're a big football team and they're aggressive and they're about defense. With USC, it's USC, you can't pass that up. Those are the top two right now if everything works out."
Wooten and cornerback Raymond Ford, who has an Arizona State offer early on, are two of the top prospects at Serra next season. Serra is familiar with high-profile recruits because that's where George Farmer, Marqise Lee, Jason Gibson and others played in their high school career.
Wooten said watching how those players handled the recruiting process will help him in the future.
"It helped me tremendously because just working out with them improved my game because they're great," Wooten said.
"It just makes you better. Even though they're bigger then you and they're stronger it makes you the best and that's what I'm trying to do at practice, going against guys like them all the time.
"They handled the recruiting process pretty good. They weren't stressing out like everybody else. They took their time and talked it over with the coaches and their close friends. They made the best decision for them."
